Lg optimus v, is it good for starters?

I'm supposed to be switching to Virgin Mobile soon and I planned on getting the Lg Optimus V. But now I'm having second thoughts after all the hype about the Motorola Triumph. I don't think I need the Triumph since I've never owned a smart phone. Would I be missing out on anything??
